HELICAL LAP internal and external lapping tools

are made of fine-grain gray cast iron. To achieve an even, soft structure, the material is subjected to a special annealing process, which makes it the ideal lapping carrier for all lapping means – especially for joke Magic and/or Hyprez diamond compounds.

HELICAL LAP interior lapping tools

have a spiral slit and an internal cone, which exactly corresponds with the external cone of the matching slip-on shaft. These two features ensure an even,
cylindrical expansion of the lapping tools.  Boreholes with inaccurate roundness and cylindricity can be quickly and economically brought to a high degree of accuracy. All interior lapping tools are reground on the outside.
The pulling-off device pulls the lapping tool off the slip-on shaft. A pulling-off device is supplied with several inserts; see table for insert ranges.

HELICAL LAP external lapping tools

also have a spiral slit, and must be used with the matching holder. The lapping tool is first inserted into the holder and fixated to prevent it from turning. The holder is tightened to reduce the internal diameter of the lapping tool to the necessary evenly round dimension. All external lapping tools are ground inside and supplied at least 0.02 mm larger than the specified nominal diameter.

Basic principles:

• Interior lapping tools should be longer than the borehole to be lapped

• External lapping tools should be shorter than the shaft to be lapped

• All lapping tools should be separately stored according to their grit size
